I'm currently in two Bible studies and interestingly, the same topic has come up in both studies in the past week or so. It's the idea that God allows us to go through trials for good purpose.
What does this have to do with feeling unfulfilled? I think it has everything to do with it.
The Bible tells us that God has plans for us - things he planned long before we were born (Ephesians 2:10).
If God never allowed us to experience difficult times, then how would we ever really understand his comfort and his peace?
If you already know Christ, think about all the things that he has brought you through, all the ways he has protected you. Chances are that the circumstances he has allowed you to experience are directly related to his plan and purpose for you. What are you doing with what you have learned? Are you just sitting there holding onto those lessons or are you sharing them with others?
If you have never sought out Jesus when you have been in pain, perhaps now is the time. Afterall, feeling unimportant, unfulfilled, or even useless, is still pain. Jesus Christ promised peace to all who believe in him. That peace is offered freely, but you have to accept it - you have to reach out and take it, he's not going to force it on you. It doesn't matter what you've done up to this point, Jesus Christ is holding out his arms waiting for you to just turn to him and seek his comfort and his guidance. Even if you aren't sure what you believe right now, God honors those who earnestly seek him.
Are you ready to reach out? What do you have to lose, really?
